Flexible dentures provide better retention, using the patient’s own existing teeth. In some cases, a flexible denture can reduce coverage of the palate by up to 70%, with no unsightly metal clasps. Unfortunately, they do not usually work as well for a patient who has none of their own teeth remaining, although this does depend on the patient. A flexible denture should have a lifespan of around five years, providing the patient’s dentition does not change too much.
Flexible dentures are made of a nylon material, which means that they are stronger and, yes, more flexible than acrylic dentures. However, this material is dull, and can over time begin to feel a little rough to the tongue (although this is so gradual that most patients will not notice it) compared with the more highly polished surface of an acrylic or chrome denture. In some cases, if the patient does notice the slightly rougher feel, he or she will need to consider the trade-off of improved retention against a smoother mouthfeel.
It was long thought that removable partial dentures had to be rigid to be effective. The innovation of Valplast® flexible partial dentures allows the restoration to adapt to the constant movement and flexibility in your mouth. This is the underlying thinking behind Valplast’s innovative flexible removable partial. The flexibility, combined with strength and light weight, provides total comfort and great looks!
Comfort
When considering a removable partial denture, many people find the Valplast® Flexible Partial to be the most comfortable option. While the cost can be slightly higher than a partial made with visible metal clasps, the results of the flexible partial give you confidence while talking, eating and, most importantly: smiling.
Aesthetics
If you can’t bear the thought of visible clasps then the flexible denture is an option that looks natural and is designed to stay beautiful and comfortable.
Longevity
Removable partial dentures usually need to be replaced after a few years as your mouth changes. Flexible dentures from Valplast® come with a lifetime warranty against breakage and fracture in normal use. Even if the denture needs to be replaced, the Valplast® flexible partial is designed to last.
